Well ...we have entered the holiday season with covid hitting it's intense third wave which means....more time in isolation! The Holidays can be a solemn time for some who may be grieving the loss of loved ones or those reminicing on the nostalgic seasons of the past where life was easy and perhaps more pleasurable. 

 

To avoid the dreaded holiday blues it is important to re connect to the true meaning of this month..JOY! Self Care has never been more important than it is now. Show yourself love and compassion! Life has not been easy this year and you deserve the royal treatment! Remember, even at our darkest moments we have plenty to be grateful and joyful for! 

 

Here are 10 ways to bring joy into your hearts during the holiday season

 

1. Make gift giving joyful. Each day meditate on a person you wish to purchase a gift for and then mindfully shop online to find that perfect token of your love. 10 gifts equals 10 days of meditation and thoughtfulness! 

 

2. Start a joy journal. Find and decorate the perfect journal and each evening write within it everything that brought you joy througout the day. Focusing on the good is the best recipe for defeating the blues! 

 

3. Create personalized Christmas tree ornaments with affirmations written upon them and each day meditate on the affirmation and hang the ornament on the tree as a symbol of your determination to feel joy. "I love and approve of myself today'. 

 

4. Make zoom carol calls! Find some friends and practice a few carols then FaceTime or zoom your friends and family and serenade them with tidings of comfort and joy! The gift of song is always the perfect mood lifter! 

 

5. Add cheer to your cooking by researching 10 delicious holiday recipes that tempt your pallet and twice a week have a mini holiday party! Add your favorite holiday cocktails and spice it up! Celebration breeds joy!

 

6. Allow yourself to purchase that thing you have been eyeing! The holidays are all about giving and we neglect to give to ourselves all too often! Treat yourself!

9. Write a letter to Santa! I know it sounds silly but let that child within you free! Tell Santa about all the goals you want to achieve and everything you wish for yourself and your loved ones! Let it all out! Santa will always lean his ear your way! Mail it! Get Santa's North Pole address from your local post office! 

 

10. Play! Get some good ole fashioned board games and let the fun begin! In person or via zoom, charades can surly liven up your day! Laughter is the best medicine and the easiest gateway into pure joy!
